Hebrews 12:1-2
Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Christianity is represented here as a race. Because of this we are asked to lay aside every weight and sin. It is important to understand that weight is not sin but it can become sin. If we do not lay these aside, they will surely pull us down or limit us. Every believer has a race set before him or her. The scripture here encourages us to lay aside everything that needs to be laid aside. In service, there is always the presence of adversity and adversity is included in the weights that we need to lay aside.

This scripture demands that we look up to Jesus and neither to ourselves nor another human person even our leaders because, they are not the ones that called us but Jesus did call. We are not serving to promote any person but to promote Jesus and His kingdom.
We must look up to Jesus because He is the one that will judge us, we are accountable to Him. We are not going to be judged by any man, but we shall surely account to Jesus. We also look up to Him because we are part of Him and He is our example in all things. He has laid down a pattern for us through His life. Jesus has already paved a way for everything we are doing or the things we are going to do, He did this through His life.
When we look unto Jesus, then everything we do is unto Him, whether we give or serve or work, it is unto Jesus. Then we shouldn’t expect our reward from any man. Surely God will reward everything done with regards to Him. When we look up to Jesus we derive strength- divine strength. For they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength in order to mount up with wings like Eagles.
When we look unto Jesus, our visions will be made clearer and we will not be distracted; we could focus on the divine project ahead of us. Our energy and resources can become very effective and we will make sacrifices easily.
Everything and anything we do let it be because of Jesus. Go through the present adversity because of Jesus. Go through the hard times because Jesus is faithful. Of a truth, He is faithful, He can never fail you. Looking unto Jesus is a destination we must get to.
The scripture talks about beholding like in a mirror; we are being changed into the same image from glory to glory. This verse summarizes it all; we become like Jesus as we look unto Him: and as we become more like Him we also become less of the world and its negativities. Looking unto Jesus is a priority for your life now.
God bless you!

Splendid! Been waiting for your blog’s, thank God you are back
…When we look up to Jesus our visions will be made clearer. Thank you for this, I will be teaching on this line tomorrow’s Sunday school.
Jesus has all my eyes.
when we look up to Jesus our visions will be made clearer and the distractions will not influence us.
Please how can you actually look up to Jesus, since He is invisible?
If you are born again, it then becomes possible to look up to Jesus by looking at His word with the eyes of your heart. It then means that His word actually becomes the compass that influences every move you make.
