BRAND COLLISION OF CHRIST, CHURCH, AND INDIVIDUALS

Brand collision occurs when there is a conflict of interest but sadly this has become the case today. We have a common interest handed down to us by Christ. So, Christ shouldn’t be seen as a competition like most of our Churches see Him today. Our Churches have struggled to maintain their denominational brands at the expense of upholding the Jesus Christ brand. Consequently this trend has caused a sublime deficit on the Christians’ character and responsibility to purpose.

1Pe 2:9  But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:

OUR BRAND

Wow! What a reminder of an awesome personality that you are. I have been thinking about this all weekend but sadly many church folks have forgotten about this. Rather our denominations have done a good job at keeping us so busy that we have forgotten this awesome reality about us.

No matter how busy you get in the house of God never lose sight of the reality that you are a choice generation. You are royalty and also a priest just like David in the Bible. You are also peculiar with distinct qualities and potentials handed down to you by God. There is no brand collision about this.

WHY BURY THIS BRAND?

Now my concern is that the four walls of our traditional assemblies have not allowed these qualities to thrive in earnest. It is as if once we walk into these walls, our possibilities get narrowed down to our different self imposed dogmas. Dogmas that have made our denominations to overtake our graveyards in burying talents.

I see a dangerous trend among our denominations today, the norm of keeping indoors our gifts that are meant to show forth the praises of Him who has called us out of darkness into His marvelous light. Marvelous light that goes beyond the four walls of our buildings.

BEYOND THE 4 WALLS

We have limited our shine within the four walls of our congregation. Forgetting that we have a much larger audience which our buildings cannot contain. The concept of the Church has moved from its original body of global influence to a body that tries to maintain its individual brand. So, all our activities are now designed to be like us and our individual brands. No more to be like Jesus. Forgetting that there is only one global brand we are called to represent and that is Christ the King. Who is about to make a glorious entry to take the Church away. This is the dilemma of this brand collision.

WHAT\’S TRENDING?

This trending individual brand awareness has driven us down the paths of keeping our shine indoors. This is in order to maintain traditions, patterns, and styles. It is now abnormal to realize and nurture the visions, dreams, and purpose that the Christian in the Church is called to fulfill. Don’t you think that your judgment before God will demand that you give an account of the purpose He gave you? And not whether you upheld your denomination’s brand? It is good that we as different denominations are known for something. But what we are known for should not be at the expense of what the Church of Jesus Christ should be known for.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, we are the salt and light of the world and not for our different denominations. When we juxtapose these roles, then our effects and influence begin to suffer. Because salt is now being used to kill centipede while the food goes tasteless.

Dear Church worker, do you still remember that you have a purpose? Your purpose is not in upholding your Church brand but in upholding the Jesus brand. But as you are in Church, it is your responsibility to play your role with your gifts. To draw men to Christ, edify the Church and sharpen your character in order to function well in your purpose.

You will give an account someday!

  1. This is quite alarming. Our Churches today have actually buried talents rather than nurture them to influence the world.

  2. I came across a post today that said “the godless are not our enemy but our mission field”
The church is not our mission field but the world is.

  3. We are the light of the world and not our different Churches. This is deep and requires that our church leaders look into it.
